Dear Musicians and Parents,
Congratulations for your achievement over this past season. The wonderful performance at the CSC Fine Arts Center was truly an inspiring culmination of this past year's effort and dedication.
We anticipate even greater levels of achievement and enjoyment next year. Our season will kick off with rehearsals in the Fine Arts Center at Castleton State College at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 11. (Repertory Strings will meet in Room 108 at the Rutland Intermediate School at 3:30.) The following day we will enjoy our day of rehearsal and activities at Kinhaven in Weston. Looking ahead, our Winter Concert will be held in the Castleton State College Fine Arts Center at 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 12.
Jim Sowards will return as our Repertory Strings conductor, Bear Irwin as our Concert Band Conductor, I will lead the Baroque Strings, Mr. Irwin and I will lead the Philharmonic Orchestra, Glenn Giles will direct the Wind Ensemble and Ellen Sager will lead the Senior Strings and the Symphony Orchestra. All conductors are planning exciting repertoire and enjoyable activities, including a joint Symphony Orchestra concert with the Green Mountain Youth Orchestra.
We have set aside time prior to the first rehearsal for new students to play for us and receive group assignments. Let your musician friends know about this date so that they can join us right away in the fall. Full instrumentation for all groups allows conductors to program a wider range of sophisticated literature, so please get the word out!
On behalf of all of the conductors, know how much we appreciate your discipline and hard work. Working with you is inspiring for us, and we hope the weekly gathering of like-minded musicians under the guidance of leading music educators is likewise inspirational for you. Thank you, parents for your continued support and faith in the orchestra. We look forward to seeing you in September!

Dear LRYO students and families,
Welcome to a new season with the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra! Barb Giffin continues as LRYOs part-time administrator this year. Note that the LRYO office is no longer in the Chaffee Art Center, but email and telephone contacts remain the same. Our mailing address is now 61 E. Washington St., Rutland, VT 05701.
- First Rehearsal - The first rehearsal is Friday, September 11. Please arrive between 3:30-3:45 PM for registration at CSC (except for Repertory Strings).
- Student Registration - Included in this packet you will find a student Registration form for each of your children, pre-filled with our current information. Please review and return with your contract. You or your child may bring the forms to our first rehearsal.
- You can mail the completed forms to the office, or print a blank form from our website and mail it back to us.

- Student Contract - Please complete one contract per LRYO student and bring it to the first rehearsal on September 11. This form will also be available online to download, but it must be printed out and duly signed by the student and a parent.
- Tuition - Even in our current economic times, our board again decided not to increase student tuition However, to reduce confusion, we have adjusted tuition to be equal payments for Fall and Spring semesters. It will be $160 for our younger groups (or $300 for both semesters if pre-paid on or before September 12) and $265 for those in the Symphony Orchestra (or $500 for both semesters if pre-paid on or before September 12). Remember, tuition is due September 11th or 12th! Late fees can apply.
- Scholarships - Hayes and LRYO applications must be completed and received by September 19! All Hayes and LRYO scholarships must go through the LRYO office. Please contact the office as soon as possible if you are interested in applying.
- Absences Policy - Remember, you must notify the LRYO Administrator of any absence, whether it is excused or unexcused. Notification is expected prior to
