Lakes Region Youth Orchestra Memo - 9/21/2007
By Curtis Moeller - LRYO Administrator
Kinhaven Weekend
Once again, the season opened with a bang! The student Kinhaven performance was a great preview of what excellent music we have to look forward to this year.
If you missed the parent meeting, then please continue reading!!! We are re-instating the LRYO Parent Organization, and we need you help.
Parent Organization
- Why do we need one?
The orchestra has only one more year of cheap labor through AmeriCorps VISTA, and we don?t have enough money to hire a full-time administrator. To continue offering such a low tuition, volunteer assistance is necessary. - What will they do?
We are starting with two committees: Fund-raising and Special Events. The first will create at least 2 Fund-raisers a year, oversee program advertisements, and help identify grants, donors, and sponsors. The latter will plan and staff events such as Kinhaven, season and exchange concerts, future trips, and more! - Who are they?
All parents, board members, and friends of LRYO are invited. We had some parents sign-up at the meeting, but we need more (especially for fund-raising)! Please call or email the LRYO office for more information.
Thank you's go to:
- Bob Jordan and all of the MANY parents and board members who helped at Kinhaven. The food was excellent!
- Reggie, Jenna J, Kalle, Melissa, Rachel, Madeline G, Jacob, and Jenna B for performing solos for the Pittsford Library Silent Auction and the Chaffee Art Center Opening Reception. If you are interested in taking part in such a performance, please contact the LRYO office.
- All of the board members, parents, and directors for their patience as I learn the many intricacies of my new position!
